Self Portrait of Curiosity by TubaQueen Self Portrait of Curiosity by TubaQueen
Not that I look remotely curious in the picture, but I was curious if I could still wield a graphite pencil effectively.

I've been so preoccupied with a ton of watercolor projects, I haven't touched pencil drawing in years. I was afraid I had forgotten how to draw, so I spent the day on the floor of my room doing this. Took me from 11am til about 15 minutes ago;)

So I've never really done portraits before and my pencil skills are rusty. I would really appreciate any constructive criticism or advice you guys have to give me. After all, I was motivated to do a portrait after I'd spent time on the traditional art thumbshare forums. There is some amazing stuff out there.

Materials used: heavy drawing paper, 2B,B,6B,HB pencils, tissue, Q-tips, those stubby little paper rolls.
Took about 9 hours, not too shabby:)

Your selfportrait is wondeful, very expressive. I love dark tones on your hairs, shiny eyes and lips. I think that subjects like this are very dynamic and interesting to be converted into portraits. I hate standard or frontal figures...they're often boring.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you think the perspective adds something to the portrait. I've been trying to think of some other angles that would make a high impact portrait.
